MINUTES OF
JEFFERSON COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
September 27, 2007 7:00 p.m.
Vice President, Tom
Wills, opened the meeting in the absence of Chairwoman, Betty Watkins. Eleven
members were present.
Visitor, Bentley
Dalton, was introduced and welcomed. Bentley represents the retirees of the
United Auto Workers in eastern Tennessee.
The minutes of the
previous meeting were read and approved. Hank Barnett presented an oral
treasurer=s report.
Ann Blomquist has
taken over the responsibility of maintaining the website from Deanna
Pickel. She was given the go-ahead to
put a generalized version of meeting minutes on the site. She will update the
pictures on the site as they are provided to her. She will also begin the
process of creating a new list of names of Democrats in the county since the
old list is gone, starting with the list that was gathered by Diana at the
barbecue in August. The list will be updated as names are collected.
Hank and Tom will
put up the tent to be used at Old Tyme Saturday on October 6. Hank will bring the sign, table, mints,
stickers and get some water to distribute. Diana will decorate and bring the
voter registration forms. Barbara will provide a plant to give away through a
drawing. Barbara will make labels for
the water bottles. Jean and Diana will work the booth from 9-5, Tom will work
from 9-11, Ann will work from 11-1, Peggy will work from 1-3, and Barbara will
work from 3-5.
The bean supper,
normally held in October, will be held in January if a location can be
found. Barbara volunteered to call
around to find a location. Once a location is definite, Tom will get a speaker.
It was decided to have a meeting in October to continue plans for the bean
supper.
Hank asked if anyone
knew of someone interested in running as a Democrat for two county offices up
for reelection in 2008. No one knew of anyone; Hank will report back to Betty
who will notify the state office.
The meeting
adjourned.
